Frequently asked questions
Image generation is handled by SeedDream-4 by ByteDance, accessed via the Replicate API. Prompt writing uses OpenAI o4-mini — available on all plans including free. If you prefer not to use the OpenAI integration, the built-in local prompt builder works with no additional API cost.
A Replicate API token is required for image generation — create a free account at replicate.com and grab a token from your account settings. An OpenAI API key is optional but recommended for the best prompt quality. Keys are stored securely in your WordPress database and only used to communicate with those APIs.
Aspect ratios: 16:9 (default), 4:3, 3:4, 1:1, 9:16, 3:2, 2:3, and 21:9 (ultrawide). Resolutions: 1K (~1024px, fastest), 2K (~2048px, recommended), and 4K (~4096px, highest detail). You can set a global default in settings and change it per-generation.
No. The plugin only generates an image when a post has no featured image set, or when you explicitly click “Replace with AI Image.” Your manually uploaded images are never automatically replaced.
Yes. Images generated via SeedDream-4 through Replicate are yours for commercial use. They’re saved as standard JPG files in your WordPress media library under wp-content/uploads/ — named with the pattern {post-title}-featured-{timestamp}.jpg. You have full ownership.
On Pro plans, the Tools page shows all published posts missing featured images. A slider lets you select how many to process (up to 100 at once), and a live cost estimate is shown before you confirm. There’s also a WP-CLI command for server-side bulk generation of featured images and in-content images.
Your images stay in your media library — always. Deactivating the plugin preserves all settings and data. Deleting the plugin removes settings, logs, and tracking metadata, but your images are never deleted. They remain as regular WordPress media attachments and continue functioning as featured images.
Yes. The plugin works on multisite networks. Each sub-site has its own settings, API token configuration, usage tracking, and generation log — so different sites in a network can use different styles and settings independently.
